hawknote is a private note-taking service. You text notes to a phone number and they appear in a feed only you can see. This policy explains what is collected and what is done with it.

Mobile information and messaging consent are not shared

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

No mobile number collected by hawknote is sold, rented, or disclosed to anyone for marketing. One service provider processes mobile numbers on our behalf: Twilio, our SMS carrier, which receives a number solely in order to deliver a message you asked for. Twilio acts on our instructions, may not use the number for its own purposes, and receives no consent or opt-in data for marketing. There are no other recipients of mobile information.

What is collected

• Your email address — to identify your account.
• Your mobile number — so a text from you can be matched to your account, and so reminders you schedule can reach you.
• The notes you send — their text, any images you attach, and the time they were sent.

Nothing else. There are no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers on this site.

How this data is used in our messaging program

Your mobile number is used for one purpose: to operate the messaging programme described below. Specifically, it is used to send you a one-time passcode when you add the number, to send a single confirmation when the number is verified, to send reminders you scheduled yourself, and to match an incoming text to your account so the note reaches your feed. Your consent to receive messages is recorded against your account so that we can honour it and honour its withdrawal. Neither your number nor your consent record is used for any other purpose, and neither is used to build a profile of you.

Message frequency and rates

Message frequency may vary and depends entirely on your own activity. hawknote sends you a text in only three situations: a one-time passcode when you add a phone number, a single confirmation when that number is verified, and a reminder you personally scheduled. Your consent covers all three. Most accounts receive fewer than 5 messages per month. hawknote never sends marketing messages. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out

Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts. Reply HELP for help. You can also remove a number at any time in Settings, which stops messages to it and stops texts from it being accepted.

Where your notes live

Notes are stored on a private server operated by hawknote, not on a third-party platform. Notes are never sold, rented, or disclosed for marketing, and are not used to train any model.

The text of a note is processed by Anthropic's API solely to suggest topic tags and to detect reminder times on your behalf. This is a processing service acting on hawknote's instructions; it is not a disclosure for marketing or promotional purposes, and your mobile number and consent data are never included. You may switch this off on request, and hashtags continue to work.

Retention and deletion

Notes are kept until you delete them. Deleting a note removes it and any attached image. Ask for your account to be deleted and everything associated with it is removed, including your phone number.
